This Hot Honey Mango Tajín Margarita is a vibrant, refreshing cocktail that combines the sweetness of mango with a spicy kick from hot honey and Tajín seasoning. Perfectly balanced with tequila, fresh lime juice, and Cointreau, this drink can be enjoyed either blended frozen or shaken, offering a deliciously tropical twist on the classic margarita.

Ingredients

Scale

Mango Purée

  • 1 cup frozen organic mango chunks
  • 12 tsp hot honey
  • Pinch of chili powder (optional)

Margarita

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz Cointreau
  • ½ cup mango purée
  • 1 cup ice

Garnish & Rim

  • Tajín (for rim and garnish)
  • lime wedge (for garnish and rim)
  • 1 dried árbol pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the Mango Purée: Blend the frozen mango chunks, hot honey, and chili powder together until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of water or lime juice to achieve the desired consistency.
  2. Rim the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into Tajín seasoning to coat it evenly for a flavorful and spicy edge.
  3. Mix the Margarita (Frozen Option): In a blender, combine tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice. Blend until the mixture is smooth and slushy.
  4. Mix the Margarita (Shaken Option): Add tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously, then strain into the Tajín-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
  5. Garnish & Serve: Drizzle some hot honey inside the glass for extra sweetness and heat. Rinse and deseed the dried árbol pepper to reduce spiciness or leave seeds in for more heat, then add it to the drink. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot honey and chili powder to control the spice level according to your preference.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
  • The árbol pepper can be used whole for a subtler heat or crushed for stronger spice.
  • To make the drink vegan, ensure the hot honey substitute used is plant-based or omit it.
  • This recipe can be easily scaled for multiple servings.
