These Hemp Seed Chocolate Bliss Balls are a delightful and nutritious snack combining dates, peanut butter, hemp seeds, and rich cocoa powder. With a simple no-bake process, they come together quickly and are beautifully topped with melted chocolate and extra hemp seeds for a crunchy finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Bliss Ball Dough

  • 1/2 cup dates (about 8 dates), pitted
  • 12 tbsp hot water (optional, use only if dates are a little hard)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

Toppings

  • 12 tbsp chocolate chips
  • Additional hemp seeds for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dates: Pit the dates and add them to a food processor. Add 1 tablespoon of hot water if the dates are a bit hard, then pulse until the mixture forms a sticky ball.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add peanut butter, hemp seeds, and cocoa powder to the date mixture. Pulse several times until all ingredients are combined and the dough is moist but holds its shape. If the dough is too wet, gradually add more cocoa powder to achieve the right consistency.
  3. Chill Dough: Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes to firm it up, making it easier to handle.
  4. Form Balls: Using a tablespoon, scoop the dough and roll it gently between your palms to form approximately 12 equally sized balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Melt Chocolate and Drizzle: In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bliss balls.
  6. Add Toppings and Set: Sprinkle additional hemp seeds over the chocolate-topped balls and refrigerate again until the chocolate is set, about 15-20 minutes. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • If dates are very dry, increase the water gradually to help blend easier.
  • Peanut butter can be substituted with almond butter or sunflower seed butter for variations.
  • Store bliss balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a vegan chocolate option, use dairy-free chocolate chips.
  • Rolling the balls quickly after chilling ensures they maintain their shape better.
