Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 12 medium to large strawberries

Filling

  • 12 oz whipped cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Garnishes

  • 1 tbsp graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tbsp sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly. Using a sharp paring knife, slice each strawberry in half lengthwise, keeping the stems attached for presentation.
  2. Score Strawberries: Lightly cut a triangle shape into the center of each strawberry half using the paring knife to create space for the filling.
  3. Remove Core: Gently scoop out a small portion from the center of each strawberry half using a small spoon or melon baller to make room for the filling.
  4. Drain Strawberries: Place the prepared strawberry halves cut side down on paper towels and let them drain for a couple of minutes to remove excess moisture.
  5. Arrange on Platter: Place the strawberry halves upright on a deviled egg platter or serving dish, ready for filling.
  6. Make Filling: In a medium or large bowl, thoroughly mix whipped cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a large tip or use a ziplock bag with a small corner cut off.
  7. Fill Strawberries: Pipe the cream cheese filling into the center cavity of each strawberry half until well filled.
  8. Garnish: Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs and colorful sprinkles on top of each filled strawberry for added flavor and decoration.
  9. Serve: Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh and creamy texture of these deviled strawberries.

Notes

  • Make sure strawberries are completely dry before filling to prevent sogginess.
  • For a tangier filling, add a teaspoon of lemon juice along with the zest.
  • Use chilled whipped cream cheese for easier mixing and piping.
  • These can be prepared a few hours ahead and kept refrigerated, but garnish just before serving.
  • Substitute sprinkles and crumbs with finely chopped nuts or shredded coconut for variety.
